Sum insured is the cover amount which will be paid by the National Health Insurance plan towards the medical expenses incurred due to hospitalization. With national insurance mediclaim, the company will cover you against these expenses, provided you have paid all the due premiums till date. You are recommended to pick a right sum insured, so that your medical cost is adequately covered under the chosen health insurance.
National Insurance Company will cover the medical-related expenses through cashless and Reimbursement of claim.
Cashless Claim: In order to get the cashless hospitalization, you need to get hospitalized with one of the network hospitals of National Insurance Company. You can just check the hospital list and pick a nearby network hospital to avail cashless hospitalization.
Reimbursement Claim: When you get hospitalized in a hospital other than the non-network hospitals, National Insurance Company will cover the medical expenses. In order to settle the medical bills, you need to submit the medical bills and other documents as asked by the insurance company.

For National insurance company, you can make the premium payment through two different modes.
Online Payment: For online premium payment mode, you have the option to pay through credit card, debit card & net banking.
Cash payment at branch: You need to visit the National insurance branch and pay the premium amount in cash.
By logging to National health insurance website, you can check the policy status online by entering the required details such as policy number, date of birth or registered mobile number.
For renewing a health policy, you need to visit National health insurance website homepage. On the website, you can calculate the premium amount and proceed for the payment. The policy is renewed instantly, as soon as the premium payment is done.
To get the health claim, you need to send the completely filled claim form to the insurance company and furnish other required documents as well. After acceptance of the documents by the insurance company, your claim is settled within a specified duration.
The premium amount you pay for covering you & your family under National insurance mediclaim plan is considered for tax benefit under section 80D of the Income Tax Act 1961.
