United India Insurance Co. Ltd was founded on 18th February 1938. In 1972, when General Insurance Business was nationalized in India, 12 Indian Insurance Companies, 5 Foreign Insurers (Indian operations), and 4 Cooperative Insurance Societies were merged with United India Insurance Company Limited. Post-nationalization. United India has registered the rapid growth and now the company has over 18300 workforce along with 1340 offices spread throughout the country. The Company is offering a gamut of insurance products to individuals, businesses, and corporates.

United India is engaged in providing cover to its major customers, including ONGC Ltd, Mumbai International Airport, and GMR- Hyderabad International Airport. The company is also offering insurance products to rural masses by implementing the Universal Health Insurance Programme of Government of India, Tsunami Jan Bima Yojana, Vijaya Raji Janani Kalyan Yojana, National Livestock Insurance, and many other schemes. United India Insurance Company Limited has built a strong network in over 200 tier II & III towns and villages. The latest Incurred Claims Ratio (ICR) of United India Insurance for FY 2018-19 is 109.40%.
