Royal Sundaram Insurance Company Limited

Royal Sundaram General Insurance Co. Limited is a group company of Sundaram Finance, licensed in October 2000 by IRDA. The company is a joint venture between Sundaram Finance (leading non-banking financial institution in India) and Royal and SunAlliance Insurance plc UK (UK-based leading general insurer). At the joint venture, 76% share was held by Sundaram Finance and the remaining 24% by Royal and SunAlliance Insurance. In July 2015, 26% equity holding from Royal & SunAlliance Insurance plc was bought back by Sundaram Finance and now, Sundaram Finance holds 75.90% and other Indian Shareholders hold 24.10% stake.

Royal Sundaram General Insurance Company offers Motor, Personal Accident, Travel, Home, and Health Insurance to individuals. It also offers Marine, Liability, Fire, Engineering and Business Interruption risks to corporate customers. Royal Sundaram has bagged an ISO 9001-2008 certification (customer service delivery). It has also won ‘Celent Model Insurer Asia Award’ for both 2013 and 2014. Royal Sundaram General Insurance Company has 1700 employees serving over 5.20 million customers. The latest Incurred Claims Ratio (ICR) of Royal Sundaram General for FY 2018-19 is 85%.
